HI All,
I find that my laptop is grindingly slow. I wondered if anyone knew of any free online software/checkers that might streamline my laptop to run a bit faster?
Any other recommendations would also be welcomed.
I have a Gericom Smart Power Mobile Pentium 4 Processor, 3.06GHz Enahanced SpeedStep technology supporting Hyperthreading laptop - well that is what it says on the keynboard.
I just tried using the RadarSync 2007 online test but it said it crashed.
Cheers

Have you tried the usual stuff
antivirus ..Have you got any up to date and are you checking regularly
cleaning out your temp folder (speeds up you internet experience )
Defragment your hard drive ...if it hasn't been doe this will speed up most of the aplications
check what programs are launching at start up .See if you can terminate a few of these taht you don't use all that often .
I am assuming you have about one gig of RAM ,so this probabley won't be the problem.0 -
Have you run AVG, spysweeper, etc on it?
If its running desperately slow, its sometimes quicker to do a fresh O/S install and driver install - check you have the drivers disk or make sure they can be downloaded from the manufacturers site first though.0 -
have a go at clearin up some junk with
http://www.majorgeeks.com/TuneUp_Utilities_2007_d3891.html
when installed run 1-click maintenance a few times until it's error free
then check your start up programs to see if theres stuff running all the time that does not need to
Zonealarm can slow it down, as can NortonsEx forum ambassador

....and are you running Vista? My new machine is and was running slow. I disabled a lot of services and start ups (like Browntoa suggests) and it runs and boots up considerably quicker.
This is an OK site to help vista users. Usual rules apply, if you're not sure, don't do it!!

I also would HIGHLY recommend disabling services, IMO the best gains are to be had by doing this.0
