Why is your OH's personal budget £140 per month and yours is £20? I always thought that marriage was an equal partnership? Have I missed something?

It's because I rarely spend anything as I'm a stay at home mum. Dh works full time and out of that has to pay for all his work lunches as well as his treats and personal spending.

I have nothing useful to add (nothing new there eh?). Could yourself or Ste sell your bodies for one month only. Would that boost your income?

No one would want mine! I'd have to pay them! Not exactly DFW!

Work lunches of course but, apart from this, shouldn't you have the same amount of money available to you, whether you spend it or not. Two small children are hard work!

WE did have that discussion but because I'd put it all towards debt anyway it was pointless me having extra money!

I was only kidding my lurvely. You know if I wasn't in so much debt, I'd pay yer:D Seriously thought, Ive found the last few months have been pretty much like your predicament this month. Last month, I had £38 for the last 2 weeks of the month and I have never, never been in that state before. When I pay for the car repairs tomorrow, probably £300-400, we will have around £250 for the month and I dont get paid until 30 Jun - mind you I go in a couple of weeks so I'll be ok:D

We live on my wages (all £390 of them) Tax credits and child benefit. Not easy is it!! You are doing a lot better than we are though in terms of debt repayment, we are barely scrapping by.

    Keep up the good work.

  • HI IA - you may well have covered this in another thread but I was wondering about
    1. packed lunches for Ste's work
    2. are you using terry nappies (if they are cheaper? - dunno  as have no kids myself!)
    3. could Ste get the 0% CC and transfer onto that?

    Hi Sarah,

was thinking about your situation while having my tea (yum yum!!) and I thought about the possibility of you getting a part time evening job.

As Ste works at HMV, he should be home for about 6ish (?). Could you maybe do a few hours a night at a petrol station or shop? If you do less than 16 hours a week it probably won't inpact on the tax credits either.

I know it's not ideal, as you wanna see ste after a days work, but every little will help towards the bills, won't it chick?

We've already asked the council tax and they only do 12 months.... and our gas and electric isn't cheapest but apparently scottish power (who we're with) are dropping their prices in June so we're going to see if that makes any difference...
