I have recently changed to EDF with no tie ins and according to this sites energy club it states the cash back of £30 will be paid after 3 months. However I have seen another good offer and was thinking about moving on. My question is I have been with EDF for 1 month if I move on now would I lose the present cashback.

I am not sure whether it takes three months for the cash back to be processed or you have to be with them for the 3 months to qualify.

All help greatly appreciated.

It is very unlikely you'll get the cashback. When using other cashback sites, the requirement will normally be to stay with the supplier for a minimum number of months in order for it to be confirmed and paid. You must also be absolutely sure that the EDF tariff you're on now doesn't have any early exit fees.

Here's the terms of the offer: http://www.moneysupermarket.com/gas-and-electricity/cashback-terms-conditions/

I can't see anything about a minimum period, however you must note the last point - you can only receive cashback via moneysavingexpert/moneysupermarket once in each 12 month period. They do say they only pay once the supplier confirms you have switched - I expect this is at around the three month mark, and the supplier will look to see you're no longer a customer as you've switched away - so won't confirm you as payable.

It's normally processed as a credit to your 1st quarterly billing, hence the 90 day wait.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Come again?

Cashback is paid by the comparison site.
As they are a separate company to the energy supplier, it cannot be shown as a credit on the energy bill.
The cashback method of payment will be at the discretion of Moneysupermarket.com either by BACS to the same account details as entered in the payment details section of the application form or by way of cheque which will be issued to the name and address provided on your application to change your gas and/or electricity supplier.

Yes, if signed up via a third party site such as mse.
If direct to the supplier, then a bill credit would be the norm.
Either way, a 90 day wait is fairly standard.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

This the reply i received from Cheap Energy Club (CEC). https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub

Although your switch has happened, it can take suppliers over 12 weeks, sometimes up to 16 weeks, to tell us that your switch was successful.

Once we receive this information we will issue any cashback due and update your CEC account to show your new energy supplier and tariff details.

You would not lose your £30 cashback if you switched again, but Money Supermarket’s Terms and Conditions stipulate that you can only receive cashback once every 12 months. Therefore you would need to take this into account if you wanted to switch from EDF straight away.

    unquote.

Based on the above I can switch to another supplier then by using another comparison site and still get another cash back. When I spoke to EDF yesterday they seem to think you need to wait 30 days before moving awaY. However this amount of time has now elapsed.

Also with EDF there are no cancellation charges and tie ins etc.
