This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Everybody having a lie in in preparation for 2pm?

It's hot hot hot here in Brum already. About to take the dog for a walk. He spent most of yesterday hiding against the freezer.

Off to church this morning. Then I am settling down in front of the TV. Go on Andy!

The new gutters look great. We kept some of the old stuff (all rusty with white paint peeling off, to reveal green paint peeling off, how lovely), we'll attach it to the fence to grow strawberries.

It's going to be hot again so I've made a start on the housework. Once the sun moves round to the back garden, the house feels like it's going to melt :D I'll put little Timmy out in his run in a minute, he can have a munch on the grass til about 11am then I'll have to bring him indoors. The chickens have plenty of shade so they're OK. Their house gets hot though, so I opened both doors yesterday to cool it down a bit. • Good morning everyone :)

Another beautiful day on the horizon. DH has just got up to start marking so the bed has been stripped and the washing machine is already on.

Yesterday brought a frightening annual endowment statement, the last one. We knew it was bad already and had planned accordingly but the greedy *******s have cut the bonuses again so we need to find an additional £2000, on top of what we had already planned, by this time next year. £570 a month saved and we can be mortgage free in July 2014, I am not sure how we are going to do it but am determined we will so watch this space.

We need to find £664.33 car insurance by the end of this month so exam marking fee will go towards that and I will need to top up with ebay sales. Photos and ebay listing today.

Stuffed peppers for dinner and whatever we can find in the fridge for lunch. Am intending to inventory freezer, fridge and store cupboard today and make a 2 week meal planner which will see us through to DH's payday.

Am currently obsessed with genealogy but am not getting far as all of the websites seem to want money before I can find out what I want to know. Joined a local group yesterday who are extremely helpful/friendly so may be able to get some more information.

Will be cheering on Andy Murray this afternoon. Even DH may look up from his marking to see the highlights :j

Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need them or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning all,

Early one from me. Mum and Dad stayed over after the Barbecue yesterday so they were up and off early back to Yorkshire as my db and dsil are going over for lunch today.
I'm having a day off cooking, After cooking for an army of Friday and yesterday I need a rest.
We've had two lovely days in the garden:D everyone is a lovely golden colour, my dh and sons and daughter all tan fabulously with their lovely olive skin, I however am a fetching shade of pink. When I was younger I tried all ways to be tanned, now I don't care and stay in the shade, sometimes with the help of a tinted moisturiser:D
We shall go out somewhere and have a walk this morning and be back for the tennis.
I also want to complete the box to ship to Australia complete with baby presents, Christmas presents and cards! At least it's one lot done and I can concentrate on my kids and grand kids here.
Mum and dad brought me some gorgeous flowers yesterday so I shall get dh to arrange them for me, he is much better than me.
Enjoy the sunshine whatever your up to x

Morning all,

Been up since 6 cant stay alseep in this heat, loving the sun though its about time we got some.

My dd has landed :j, she should be home within an hour or so she is shattered their flight was 4.15 this morning so they have not slept at all. She will be craving marmite on toast or boiled eggs, so I will make her some and let her sleep. It will be nice to have her under my roof again.

Today will be a pottering at home day we might wash and hoover the cars out, depends on the heat, we have a load of stuff to go on ebay too. I have signed up to the first ever village garage sale :j very excited about that, have got the stuff sorted already, its next weekend so hope we get rid of some stuff and make a bit of money.

Not sure about dinner might do a quiche and new pots, will see what dd fancies, I am sure she has been eating rubbish all week.

Have good days all, and please put some water out for the birdies :D

Good Morning all I too am up and about as I am one of those folk who once the eyes are open then that's it I'm out of bed I just can'r seem to lie-in at all.Far too many things to do :)

Had a smashing evening with my family last night at eldest DDs house.BBQ in the garden and all the family inlws etc and assorted gf & bf were there It was my youngest DGD Holly's 20th birthday. Met DGS Danny new young lady Hayley and she seems very nice and has put a smile back on my grandsons face so I am a happy bunny as well :):)

Today Tess and three of the boys and I are off to Joss Bay for a bit of beach time.Son-in-law Simon isn't keen on the beach in hot weather so he is happy to stay at home with the dogs in the shade and will probably doo dinner for this evening.DGS Ben went to a party with his pals last night so he won't surface much before the afternoon anyway :):)

I shall sit on the beach and read my book and watch the boys crabbing with their Mum, or maybe even have a bit of a paddle myself :):) It looks like its going to be a gorgeous day I do hope Andy Murray wins I shall be asking Tess every five minutes to get the stuff on her phone if possible :):) I would have like to stay indoors but its such a super day we can't waste the sun we have too little of it as it is.

Tomorrow is book club and my friend is coming to lunch so we may do a pub lunch for a change as my builder will be papering my sitting room so he won't want us under his feet.

Hope everyone has a great day and makes the most of the beautiful weather

My gardener Mick came yesterday lunchtime and carted me off to see some shrubs for the garden ,so I did splash out a bit but it will be worth it as it will add some colour to the garden.
Right time for some coffee I think
Cheers everyone

Morning all:j:j

Very warm and sunny here this morning :j:j

Well yesterdays dance show went off great! From the youngest who was only three to the oldest who was 74 years old, all did grate !:T:T

The girls did two show's yesterday one In the afternoon and one On the night. We did not get back In until just after midnight, The Girls had a story and then as soon as there heads hit the pillow they were fast asleep. They are both still spark out. Its a lot fro someone so little too do, Still when they do wake up they will be bouncing around like normal!:j:j

No church for the girls today, They will not be awake in time for them to get ready and out. Better to leave them there and sleep than to wake them and have trouble off them later.

If the girls are ok which they should be then the plan after they are up is to go to a local carnival, I not sure if they are off to my wife's Mums and Dads house or not after we have been out, But if not them they shall be at home with us and they can have a play In the Garden,
Dinner today will be Roast pork for my wife and I, We shall eat this after the girls are In bed Later tonight, It will be too hot to eat this later Afternoon. If the girls are here they will have something I just don't know what, For lunch we might get something from the carnival, Of course all this may change! It normally dose ! :D

I hope that you are all OK and have been enjoying the sun,

Yet again I have not read most of yesterdays thread, I will have to have a catch up today,

Enjoy your Hot sunny Sunday everyone :j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

Morning all,

glad the dance show was great Halight. You must be so proud of your girls.

JackieO enjoy your time at the beach. How I envy you living so close to a beach that you can just go when you want to. It takes such planning in my house and even then its not always possible. We must go and 'winterise' our caravan before the winter sets in. We were trying to work out when we used it last. I think it was around October/November of last year.:( Hubby has to fit it in round work and finances.
Have good days all, and please put some water out for the birdies :D

Redruby we have a water fountain in our garden. This morning the birds formed an orderly queue to drink out of it. Ive never seen it before and it was so funny to see.

Tru ive got a dead bumble bee in my veranda. Nothing to do with me and the door was open all yesterday but I think he must have boiled to death as it gets so hot in there. I hadn't noticed him buzzing in there and as much as I hate bees and wasps I would have got him out somehow before he met his maker.:(

My news, well hubby and 'Youngest' have just left the house. they are off up North somewhere to fetch an engine for hubbys summer project.

Have a good day all.
