    If the property is not registered it is illegal for him to charge rent and he faces a criminal record and fine of up to £50K for doing so. What have the local council said ?

    I haven't contacted the council yet - I went to a CAB on Friday morning after getting the Notice to Quit on Thursday afternoon and haven't taken any further action other than book a viewing for a new property for the two of us.

    From what I've read, the council will issue him a deadline to register THEN take action?
