Cat 'netting'. Indoor cats advice needed.

I have been thinking about getting this...I actually thought it was for windows, but I'm not so sure now.
We have four mogs whom are indoor cats due to our location being near a very busy road. However, we are unable to open the windows due to obvious escape attempts (mogs used to be able to go out when I lived elsewhere). And with the heat rising day by day, we really need to be able to open windows without fears of the cats trying to go walk abouts. Especially the upstairs windows.
Any who, I was wondering if anyone has tried the above in the link or could recommend a cheap and efficient way of cat proofing windows without having to actually drill into the window frame.

Oh, those look promising...thanks, although would a curious mog not cause damage to them?0

If your cats are not happy at being kept indoors maybe you should consider re-homing them?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

Who said they were not happy?
They're well loved, regardless. They just used to be ones that could go in and out as they pleased. But circumstances change.
Besides. Animals are for life, through thick and thin. They chose me, and I wouldn't part with them for the world.
Would you re-home a child just because they developed agoraphobia? Or something similar to a lack of ability to step outside?
Honestly, I find your post offensive and assuming.
There's enough animals in need of homes without someone suggesting I add to that number.0 -

Why would they want to escape if they were happy? Stress can cause an awful lot of problems in cats.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Wow ... I am almost speechless..A pet is for life .. Just because the ops circumstances have changed does not mean they get rid of a much loved family member.. I would warrant they would be even less happy in a rescue centre cage.
Would you rehome your children if they became unhappy, rebellious and ran away?
Op I have indoor cats and use fly screens that are made for the windows .. I have them on the doors as well as windows so I can leave the back door open but the cats can't wander out.

I like the Flat-Cats solution. Never heard of them before.
The net solution doesn't look good to me. I'd worry the cat might get his head caught in the net hole if he tried to push through.
I'm sure your cats would rather live with you wherever you have to go. I know mine would never want to leave me and I feel the same about them.
You are being sensible protecting them from the danger of the busy road.
A friend of mine was in a similar situation and she sometimes brought her cat to visit me where he could play in my garden for a while. Maybe you have a friend who would help in that way if you feel the cats want some outside time.
My boy cat has access to acres of space but he never has any urge to go outside. He's happy indoors only.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -
Looking at the prices I'd be inclined to buy netting, velcro and something to stiffen the edges.
In fact I might just do that for my son's room as he keeps the window open day and night and often gets moths or flies in his room.
Thanks for the idea14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Im currently using that netting, unfortunatly my walls are useless and may as well be paper! So fixing it, is a tad difficult but the actuall netting is great, very strong and small holes.
Im trialling sticky hooks at the minute attatched to the frame but they arnt the strongest and occasionally pop off so as long as you can find something good to keep it attatched to the window they are good, however if money wasnt an issue I'd go for flat cats:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0 -
I have that netting but haven't put it up yet. It feels quite strong and the holes aren't wide enough for a cat to get it's head through.0
