Ending my contract and hiring someone new.

    I think you are right to be frustrated but I think you are onto a loser here. Its not admitting defeat - just that this place / job / school isn't your thing at the moment. Have the good grace to maintain your dignity. The best you can do is speak to the people involved HT, class teacher etc for feedback. You will have to search yourself internally as to whether any of it is relevant, my experience of schools are that they are quite clicky environments.

    There is no way anyone on here, based on reading your posts could tell you why you're not being kept on in this job as sometimes it can come down to a single (influential) persons dislike and that person might not even be senior in the job!

    I do some volunteer work as a teaching assistant (not in a school) and I suspect my class leader doesn't like me / my technique. I see she has a number of issues one that she ignores the needs of slower participants and is keen to spend all her time with the more able - I counteract this by keeping at the task with them until they have finished (or at least feel they have gained something) rather than moving on in time with her "teaching plan". When I taught I must admit this was a pitfall that would have been easy to fall into as the faster ones were always louder / keener and were often moving at the pace I had envisaged ...

    It might be nothing personal or professional it might just be that the Head teacher wants to maintain flexibility in his employees and will know that if you are employed on temporary contracts for 2 years you will acquire employment rights and they may feel that it could be an issue in a couple of years if they do not have continued SEN funding.

    Of course there is nothing wrong with asking for constructive feedback from the Head teacher but don't go in all agressive and demanding answers.
