More Than or Tesco Standard insurance?

Do you think the insurance differs at all in terms of service? There's £5 difference between the two.

I was also considering the key insurance as I only have one car key, which is £15 - does anyone have any opinions on this? I guess it must be worth having?

Are all the policy terms identical? With regards to say curtosy cars, 3rd party cover to drive other vehicles, or European cover?

(I've had insurance with More Than but never had to make a claim so can't really comment on customer service beyond a change of address, which was fine. I've not tried Tesco.)
  • Hi,

Just joined the forum as been looking at car insurance quotes and needed to check out echoice - glad I did won't be going with the.

However re this thread, I was with More THan for years before moving elsewhere due to cheaper quotes and I can say they were for me a very good company. I was hit by a car from behind, he wasn't sure if he was insured on his sisters insurance so I though "Oh s...". I managed to get home (luckily on 200 yards from home) rang More Than and they had a breakdown truck there first thing next morning. They sorted the insurance including my excess and repairs authorised no problem whatsoever.

I am looking myself to go back to them next month.

    Hope this helps. :)

Was with More Than for two years until I had to claim, they were a joke and unbelievably unprofessional. Didn't help that the third party was with More Than too so they were trying to do a 50/50 to do us both out of our excesses and refused to take third party to court as they were the same company.

Tesco the other hand have been fantastic, nearly every driver in my family is with them and a few friends. You can also get a Clubcard discount and get some to refer you for 2000 Clubcard points or £20 each.

I'd suspect this same sort of nonsense from any insurance company when both involved are insured by them.

LV tried something similar when my dads car was hit by a drunk driver (also insured by LV).

They dragged !!!! over the claim for many months and were not overly helpful even thought it was totally cut and dry about the circumstances.

More than are an ok insurer but some of their "contact centres" are over seas which can make the experience harder than necessary.

Some of the staff are very easy to understand and know their jobs quite well, others not so much.
