Oh gosh! I won't be doing that then haha
I like the one where you insist that the caller is your friend Leon, "come on Leon stop messing with me, I know it's you!" :rotfl:

I'm wondering if your best bet is to stay silent. Wait for the other person to speak first. If it's a welcome caller they will speak first and you can respond, explaining if they're puzzled. If it's an unknown/unwelcome caller then stay totally silent. Eventually I think they'll give up, not being sure whether they're even getting through to a person or not. Horrible to do that to you though Grrr

    Not a good idea!

A German woman, annoyed by telemarketers who called her frequently, blew a whistle into the phone to discourage further calls. The telemarketer who received the blast claims to have suffered hearing problems, and now the whistle blower has a criminal record and an 800 Euro fine to pay.

I had a call the other day from what was obviously an Indian Call Cantre and he tried to tell me that his name was John Smith. I just laughed and said so's mine and put the phone down.

    Oh well that sucks :(
It's horrible how they are just allowed to bug people and no-one can do anything to stop it.

But....wasn't there a story a few months ago (not on here) about a guy who had sued some telemarketer who kept calling him. Had them done for wasting his time or something like that.
The guy won in court and got a little bit of compensation.
I'm hoping I didn't just make that up, I really am sure I read about that somewhere.

I've just bought a new phone that allows you to block calls from International, withheld and unavailable numbers. You can also block individual numbers, so fingers crossed we will be getting a lot less nuisance calls from today.
