Plagued by calls from 'UK Today'!!!!!

Over the past few weeks I am being called 2 or 3 times a day by Indian call centre calling themselves 'UK Today' and wanting me to answer questions to their lifestyle survey. I have told them politely many times that I am not going to answer their questions and to remove me from their database but they just hang up and then continue to call.

Trouble is that they ring from different numbers each time i.e. 01214... or 02084... and I always answer as I think it could be a comp win!!! Is anyone else having this problem?

They've just called me now and said that there is no way I can stop their calls and they will continue to call me every day until I answer their questions!!!!!!

Next time they call (make sure you know it's them first) blow a whistle/air horn down the phone....and do it every time they call, they'll soon stop calling!

Havent had calls from this particular firm but a tactic I have used in the past is, ask in very businesslike voice "who is calling please?" then I ask them to hold a moment, place the phone on the side and carry on with whatever I'm doing. They never hold more than a couple of minutes and a maximum of 4.

I've got Smart Voice app on my phone and recorded one of those automated ones..
We've been trying to call, this is urgent, free boiler - you know....

I say 'oh hang on got to turn tv down. get app running and play it to them.

If they are calling from a UK based phone number report them via the ICO website.

What ever you do DON'T answer the questions. Despite their assurances of not passing any details on, they do and you'll get inundated..friend of mine did one and had 5-10 calls every day for weeks..
Thanks to those that post the comps!!

i dont buy Bt / other tel co's excuse they cant trace the caller number..

they must report call details / length SOMEWHERE, for them to get charged!

Ask them what they are wearing!!

Or just give them all random made up answers, they said they would leave you alone if you answered their questions.
If you can think fast you can make up some really funny random ones.

There is a thread on MSE somewhere about a guy being called by some company all the time and he was posting about the things he said to them.

    Not a good idea!

A German woman, annoyed by telemarketers who called her frequently, blew a whistle into the phone to discourage further calls. The telemarketer who received the blast claims to have suffered hearing problems, and now the whistle blower has a criminal record and an 800 Euro fine to pay.

I had a call the other day from what was obviously an Indian Call Cantre and he tried to tell me that his name was John Smith. I just laughed and said so's mine and put the phone down.
