Be very careful. They may well debit the amount from your visa debit card as the authorisation is valid for 6 months.

Why not write to them via recorded delivery?

Why would they do that? They have no authorisation to charge the debit card (I have been canny enough to take a screen capture of this), if they did that they would be breaking the terms of operating their merchant account for card transactions so would only end themselves up in trouble.

Anyhow, why would I write via recorded delivery? I don't have time to muck about, the whole point of ordering online is so you don't have to be around 9-5 to do this stuff, nearest post office to here is 8 miles away and it's only open when I'm at work.

Why should they though? The retailer has already been notified (multiple times). If they are too incompetent to deal with that, it's certainly not the OPs job to keep chasing them.

Yay, someone who understands. Anyhow, no the retailer isn't on say no to 0870, not prepared to spend another £3 calling them (wish I'd realised that the first time too!).

Tbh it would be easier to just use the returns process and get the postage reimbursed. Your stubborn refusal to do this and help with their mistake says more about you hoping to get free goods than any thing else, remember it was you asked "when do they bocome mine" so there is no point now claiming you didn't want to keep them.

If the company won't pay the OP upfront to return their goods, why do you think they are going to pay after OP has returned them and they have no financial incentive to do so?

Or by 'easier' do you mean 'you'll probably have to take small claims court action to get your money back'?
