Car Insurance Direct Debit Problem

Options
Hi Guys really need your help.

im with admiral car insurance group and they are threatening to cancel my insurance policy. i had two direct debit rejected twice my bank is calling it insufficient funds. on the 13th June my insurance was rejected due to two direct debits coming out of my account. i logged in online and i credited my account so i had enough to cover the DD when it popped up on my phone that my account was in minus but it still got rejected. Spoke to my bank and they said i had to call up by 2pm on the day in question to cofirm the payment to go out. Kept in tocuh wit my insurance and they said the will be trying again the couldn't give me a specific date but i kept my account in credit. Admiral claimed they tried again on the 25th they submitted the second trial and that got rejected on the 28th. i got paid from my job on the 28th so there was money in my account. spoke to my bank they said Admiral tried on the 27th and i had another DD that day so they rejected Admiral again by £2.88. i asked them why didnt you accept Admiral and reject the other £20.00 DD they said its not down to them. i got in touch with Admiral and they are cancelling my policy by the 9th. i tried to reason with them but because it got rejected twice they want the full payment for my policy which i can't afford. i have the money for their DD but its too late to accept. They want a letter from my bank to take responsibility but my bank has refused. now im stuck with a debt over my head which i cant afford! Any help guys?

I can only suggest that you get written details from your bank about when Admiral tried to take payments again and start an official complaint with Admiral. But it does appear that you were a bit low on funds during the period and had not allowed enough for the Insurance premiums. You should have a consumer credit agreement for monthly payment to check for details of the arrangement and also the direct debit guarantee will show what rights you have.

Insurance companies now enforce quite a strict regime for monthly payments. If policyholders have a problem, it is often the case now of having to pay any remaining premium in full or face the policy being cancelled. The reason being is that the Insurers don't want employ more people than necessary within their customer accounts departments.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

As above, if you cannot guarantee to have enough credit in your current account then don't sign up for direct debits, to put it bluntly , the insurance companies are not prepared to be p***** about anymore.....it all adds to their costs , so sorry but they don't want you as a customer any longer !!
