BT - Direct debit 'saving'

I've heard if you pay BT by direct debit you save approx £2 a month? In line with most companies. However on my bill, there is no mention of the saving, just the amount to be taken.

If I was to login to the 'MyBT' area and make a manual credit card payment, will that stop the direct debit going? Or will they take that as well? And will they bill me for manually paying by card? There's no mention of it on the manual payment page?

Would like to just pay the bill by credit card each month, but they told me direct debit was the *only* option with my package?? (BT infinity broadband & line rental saver). If I could just manually pay by c/card each month I'd be happy!

Cancel your DD and you'll pay £24 a year (£2 per month payment processing fee) for any other method.
Whole Bill DD or Payment Plan avoids this.
