Have been pondering a steam cleaner for a while. Thinking of one of those that does floors but also can be used handheld.
I keep seeing ads on tv but in principle ads on tv put me off so id rather have the recommendations of the mse family board:beer:
Or do you have one and it just gathers dust because they are not any good?
thanks in advance for any input!

I bought mine earlier this year and was a little concerned it would be a 10 day wonder. But no - I do love it and I now clean my floors considerable more often as it is so much easier and the floors are instantly dry. I got mine from L@keland but it doesn't have a hand held element so can't comment on that.
It's not a miracle worker, in that if there is a significant stain, then I do need to squirt some cleaner on to the stain before going over it with the steam cleaner (which only uses water not chemicals) but I've made up a spray bottle especially for that so it is quick and easy.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
I bought the green one off the telly, can't remember the name, the one the man with the irritating fake American accent advertises.
It broke twice within 2 weeks so I returned it and got my money back.
Now I have a Black & Decker deep clean steam mop from Argos and it works very well.
However I still need to old fashioned mop my tile floors now & again as the steamer doesn't do ground in dirt on the grout lines. I don't think any steamers can. You really need elbow grease for that.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.

I just bought a karcher continuous steam cleaner, £146 from am4zon.de after reading posts on the uk site it worked out £50 cheaper including postage. It's cleaned up the grout in our bathrooms beautifully and the oven looks amazing considering it had burnt on jam engrained into it before I started.
The thing you have to remember with steam cleaners is that they are not miracle workers, you are still going to have to use elbow grease and I would say they work better than conventional cleaning liquids & scrubbing. What's even better is you don't need anything extra with them, just fill with water and off you go. So I think in the long-term ours will save us £'s. If you keep on top of your cleaning then get one, if you're lazy and everything ends up really grubby and not cleaned for months then it's going to take you longer.
Ours has definitely made our cleaning more efficient though, plus it's fun now

I have both of THESE - but not for this price !!!!!!I have also owned two of the "holme floor steamers - both of which gave up and needed returning - not recommended
the vax floor cleaners here works very well but you cant get the water filler off bare handed - it requires prying off which is ultra carp design
and they all do the same thing !!! so look for the longest guarentee..
the ones that use any kind of detergent are conning you - you dont need any
I use them all the time - but the small one i only use for cleaning the cooker top ( gas) and the loo seats ( all non contact - so dont go ewwwwww!)
and the floor one ....well that speaks for itself....in retrospect I would have bought THIS which would do both jobs and take off the wallpaper and steam hung clothes ! even it it does take 5 mins to heat up..
and it would take up less space - would have cost less- theres very little to go wrong...much more mse.Fight Back - Be Happy0 -

Karcher ...£49....http://www.karcheroutlet.co.uk/products/product.asp?id=4645It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
