Perhaps this is why it takes so long for the banks to respond to the FOS about PPI cases............

A vast majority of PPI handlers for big banks are temp/contract/outsourced staff on barely-over-minimum-wage contracts with unreasonable targets/quick-turnaround training/high turnover. It's hardly surprising, they had to get staff from somewhere quick to deal with an ongoing influx of millions of complaints.0

So, what, students are all stupid?
The job is hardly taxing - most claims are cut and dry.
The reason it 'takes so long' is because there's so many.0 -
I didn't say students are stupid. Where are you reading that?
And if most claims are cut and dry from the bank's perspective then why are so many referred to the FOS who then still uphold the majority in favour of the consumer, not the bank? (77% of them in Barclays case in the last published figures)
I find their recruitment process somewhat lacking. How do you know a person is right for a role in a company or will actually want the job (or will stay longer than 5 minutes) when they've come away from the interview with a job offer without even knowing what their role will be?0 -
If you had millions of backlogged cases to plow through and need quantity over quality, would you be all that picky?
Keep in mind as I said before the majority of these jobs are low-paid temporary/on contract, they're not after long-term employees, they're after getting this mess over with.0 -

The Momenta resourced contractors for ill fated Deloitte/Lloyds TSB Tower Hill project were on £140 to £190 per day. The FOS PPI contractors are on £200 a day. There are Huntswood contractors doing PPI complaints across the country for Lloyds group on £150 per day. Nationwide in Northampton have contractors on £250 a day. Santander have contractors on about £175 a day I think.0 -
That's 3rd-party contractors (ergo already experienced/trained to some extent in the field) rather than in-house temporary, entry-level, or outsourced staff. At the moment I've seen them go for as low as £1000-1500 a month.0

Momenta and Huntswood are perhaps two of the main and biggest recruiters for PPI case handling.
Huntswood pays a flat rate of £150 per day regardless of experience???
This will be reduced by £5-10 per day [about £100 per month!!!!) to at most £145 per day from January 2014????????
Momenta (who recruits of behalf of Deloitte) pays a DECENT day rate of between £170-£190 for case handlers with at least 3-6 months experience and EVEN MORE for other work involving PPI i.e. Redress, QA, and Managers.
FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) pays the best day rate of £205 for experienced case handlers, and a bit higher for QA. They recruit through Randstad Financial Professional.
Therefore Huntswood pays a mediocre and lowest out of these top recruiters (£150 and of late now (2014) ONLY at most £145 per day!!!!), but having said that, Huntswood are since end of (I believe) last year the main and largest recruiter for Lloyds case handling contracting due Deloitte issue with Lloyds and contract loss... Deloitte still although supplies some case handling staff through Momenta, but this operation is though now managed by Huntwoods (oppose Deloitte management) and is based over a couple new locations in London (no more all at the Royal Mint Court - rmc). This staffing supply is although not large at all, and is probably small fillings i.e. not as it was before when Deloitte had the exclusive management and recruiting contract with Lloyds.0
