Being the current account and credit card tart that I am, ive been trying to shut down some of my unused credit cards and accounts to avoid my credit rating going bad. I got a free copy of my credit report from https://www.annualcreditreport.co.uk and it showed some account that i'd completely forgotten i'd opened. one of these was a littlewoods account. it clearly stated on https://www.annualcreditreport.co.uk that i had a credit limit of £1000, so i emailed littlewoods. unfortunately at that time i didn't know my account number so just emailed them with my name, DOB and address, got the following reply:

INFORM the banking ombudsman.
This is a gross violation, i suggest you contact littlewoods and copy all the correspondences to trading standards.
Be firm but polite. Explain that you are stressed by this and feel that you have been lied to. Suggest £50 as a token of good will.
Expect nothing less. Even if the person made a mistake when telling you of your account. Thats incomptence, we live in capitalistic and democratic society where we expect results from our pounds!0 -
Alternatively, rather than jumping on the suggested lets-sue-anybody-and-everybody-even-though-I-have-not-suffered-any-loss-or-damage, simply ask Littlewoods to close the account down as you no longer need or want it.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
i don't expect any money, just want account to be closed and for them to stop sending me stuff.
"Thank you for your e-mail regarding an account you may have with us.
Please could you contact us direct on 08457 888 222 and speak to a
member
of the authorisation team who will advise.
We look forward to hearing from you soon."0 -

Every time I get something in the post that I haven't asked for, I cross out my details, write "unsolicited mail, return to sender" on the front and put it back in the post box.
Eventually they get must sick of paying for it to be returned to them because they do stop coming!!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

The company wouldnt actually be charged at their end, the return is included in the price of postage! Contact the Mailing Preference Service to opt out of direct mail that is addressed.0
