How to get rid of dog urine smell?

We just bought a probate and the owner lived in the house before had a dog and he allowed it to urine inside the house. Therefore the house has a super strong smell. As the house is pretty run down so we are going to renovate the whole house and will replaster the whole house. Today when we talked to the neighbour, she mentioned she can even smell the smell in her house. This makes us worried the smell has even gone to the bricks. Does anyone know any way we can get rid of the urine smell?

Thank you very much in advance

Remove everything from the house, especially carpets and all furnishings and get the windows open.

Strip the walls as well and then mop everything down with disinfectant.

    that should help

I assume you are gutting the house. When you have removed everything, disinfect the floors. Then put out some bowls scattered round the house at floor level filled with bicarb. It'll absorb a lot of the odour.

Replenish them fairly regularly until you can no longer smell it. I would continue to do this for a good few weeks, just to be sure!

Scrubbing with biological washing powder can help - the enzymes in the washing powder get rid of the smell and stop it coming back. Failing that, you can buy some stuff called Urine Off (or something like that) and I think that's a more concentrated version of a cleaner with enzymes.

Mop the floors and spray a few times starting with a strong solution of white vinegar in water and then a strong solution of bicarbonate of soda , alternate finishing with the bicarb.

Both are available cheaply in bulk from Chinese and some asian Supermarkets .

This is tried and tested by myself and works !
