returning faulty goods

I've been reading about the sale of goods act and the sale and supply of goods to consumers reguations because I want to explore my options with regard to returning a pair of shoes which are no longer waterproof.
They were purchased over six months ago - so I undertand the burden of proof rests with me to proove they were faulty when bought BUT my problem is they were waterproof when purchased but the fault has recently developed. although bought almost ten months ago they have been worn very little. I paid £80.00 and do have proof of purchase. I expected much more for my money as minimal wear is evident
How do I actually proove they have just developed this fault?
Thanks

You do know that maintenance is required to keep them waterproof? Have you followed all the proper procedure and applied the waterproof spray or wax that keeps them waterproof.
Even the best waterproof gear requires re waxing or spraying every few months.
Water and time breaks down the waterproof barrier applied when new, re apply and go jumping in the puddles again.0
