As we all know, holidays that coincide with the school holidays are hugely expensive compared with non school holiday time.
If you had primary school age children would you take them out of school for a week to go on a cheaper holiday? Assuming there are no SATS or important exams or assessments etc.
I did want to create a poll with the options YES, NO, UNDECIDED but am not sure how to.

yes i would, i dont rate sats as important as gcse's so i would take them during sats as well. If the government did what they promised and reduced the kids holiday prices, parents wouldnt have to go in term time.0

How can the government reduce the prices of holidays?
I have two grown up children we only ever went away in holiday time when they were in school. It is a condition of them going to school that they attend every day it's open and you wouldn't take unauthorised leave from work would you?0 -
YESI consider our holidays "educational" as we don't just sit around a pool, we take in the culture and educate our kids on local customs.
My kids have gone back to school and used their experiences in several school projects, so it has been of benefit to them.
It's not always easy for us to go in term time, and I'm not about to go into details here.
As most times we try our best to MSE it as best we can in the holidays, it's just not always practical for many reasons not just including price.
School take my kids on 5 day outward bound trips all the time and call it "educational", they also take all the kids to the cinema once every month during term time why can't I, take my kids out of school for such extra curricular activities?
They are all still in primary school. I would avoid major milestones once they get to secondary school. I may even go with out them as they get bigger and they can stay with gran mwahahahahahaha
Ps the local truancy officer told me that a child can have 10 unauthorized school absences. ( Before they will get involved which involves a home visit and a chat anout any difficulties. i always write to the school for permission, its always refused, but every letter states they cannot stop me.
May be different elsewhere, thats just my school)
The school prefer kids to attend every day as it affects their budget and statistics, and messes up the head teachers spreadsheets.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T

YESThe 10 days is going from September.
I work in an industry where it's very hard to take time off during holidays as we get our income from tourists. The futures bright the future is Ginger0 -
NONo. You break the rules and where is your example to your children? I also tend to disagree with those who claim that holidays are educational and those that claim that it's OK because they only watch videos at the end of term. The man without a signature.0

Yes I'd take them out for a holiday. Compare the memories to a week there going to miss. A week isnt going to be a loss to their knowledge0

the government said ages ago that they were going to regulate the holiday companies from vastly inflating holiday prices in school holidays, guess what?? they didnt do anything. You could afford to take your kids away in the school holidays - many parents can't.0 -
YESAnswered yes as I have done (with the schools permission) and believe I should be able to (as long as DS is not behind with his work and has not had lots of time off sick) . But I won't be anymore as due to the law change I will not be able afford to pay the fine.0
