Hello,
I've recently sold my house and now need a solictor to tie in the sell officially. Having not ever done this before I need some advise.
How much should I look to pay and any particular solicitor you can recomend to work with.
Thanks in advance.

If you have already sold the house, why do you need asolicitor now?
Did you do the conveyancing of the sale yourself?0 -
G_M, I suspect the house is not sold at all, just that Dottie has accepted an offer on it. As you know, that's a long way from being sold still.
Dottie, we have no idea where in the country you live so how can we make any suggestion on what solicitor to use? Ok, some people may say it doesn't matter where your solicitor is, but most of us like one who is reasonably local.
Anyway, the simplest solution is to get out the Yellow Pages (or online equivalent) and contact a few to get a quote. For what it's worth my solicitor's conveyancing fee is £600 + VAT, but unless you are also in Scotland that's probably not going to be much help to you.0 -
Yes, looking at a conveyance fee with a solicitor as have accepted a bid.
I'm based in the east Berkshire region. Is there a website for conveyance quotes? Looking through the yellow pages and getting quotes this way seems a bit last century rather than 2013.
Should I generally be lookinhg at £600 + VAT.
Thanks in advance

Option 1: google. Loads of 'cheap' internet conveyancers.
Option 2: walk down localHigh Street, popinto 3 solicitors, ask to meet conveyancer for quote. Get quote and evaluate the person.
When comparing quotes (whether Option 1 or 2!) read:

Some quotes have hidden extras(esp cheap internet ones)0
