I had a Hotpoint freestanding frost free fridge/freezer for about 8 years. Didn't have any problem with it at all, worked perfectly.
Only changed it because I've got a new kitchen and wanted an integrated one.0 -
No brainer, frost free every time. I had my last one over 10 years.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Frost-free fridge freezers have been around for a while. There was a known problem with a Hotpoint model a while ago, but it was resolved by the manufacturer.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0

Definitely worth it, no more defrosting, which is a job I always hated4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Frost free has more technology to it so in theory there is more to go wrong with then, but stick to a decent brand and you will be fine.We’ve had to remove your signature. The Frost Free feature malfunctioned on the Hotpoint FF200E with the freezer getting very cold and the fridge getting warm. The service engineers would come out and use a hair dryer to defrost the frozen fridge duct!

The freezer in my 13month old zanussi frost free became totally iced up. I called Zanussi and they told me that you should defrost every year even though they are supposed to be frost free??!!! The repair engineer advised me to do the same thing!0

I've had a budget-model Indesit BAN12NF total frost-free fridge-freezer for over two years now with zero issues. Things to note with such fridge-freezers:
1. They can make some strange noises sometimes whilst the auto-defrost takes place;
2. Your ice cubes will shrink in the ice-cube trays! This is because the fridge-freezer works hard at keeping the fridge frost-free so removes some water too;
3. There isn't a lot of space in the freezer compartment as there's quite a lot of machinery and electronics at the back of the unit. This makes the freezer drawers quite small;
4. It does generate more heat than a normal fridge-freezer so requires a bit more ventilation at the back.
I would never go back to a normal fridge-freezer. It used to be a royal pain to have to switch it off and defrost it.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0
