Went to visit Mr T. Had £2 off £20 and a shopping list.
First - spent ages searching for the Garnacha. Couldn't find anyone to ask. You would think it would be in the section headed "Finest Wines" but oh no. Nearly gave up but did eventually find it. Then, only one mustard mash
Round to get Velvet - big empty space. Then on to the Happy Eggs - ditto! Gave up on the idea of spending £20 so thought would just try the meal deal.
Till accepted £2 pies but not the Chef's Pledge nor the £2 Finest. Young lad said he didn't think pies counted as ready meals. So told him to cancel it. What all of it he said? By this point I was so frustrated I launched into the story of how fed up I was that nothing was in stock and now the coupon wouldn't scan either. At which point he took pity on me and put it through as a non-scan :j
So ended up paying £3.50 for a bottle of wine, pies, mash and a trifle, so not too bad. Do you think it was because I got the trifle instead of another side? Nearly forgot the 10 items too, but remembered just as heading for check out.
The pie was very nice though
I think the system doesn't recognise desserts as part of a ready meal - if you get 2 mustard mash or 1 mash and another veg one it sees the Deal as 2 ready meals . Ive just bought pies, 2 mash and Garnacha plu otherbits and pieces and the till scanned 1 Finest, the Pie one and the Chefs Pledge quite happily. I did give the CA another Finest but it didn't scan - I didn't press him but, without me asking, he put it through as a non scan. After my PP from the last Meal Deal yesterday my shopping came to around £1.50 - and a new PP for £3.99 popped out ! The CA was laughing his head off and asked if I could give him some lessons on how to do his shopping - he promised not to tell his Supervisor the secrets.
I suppose I should apologise in advance for any stress my canny shopping causes Mr Smith. (but I'm not going to cos I don't give a Monkeys you know what !) Who was it on here who came up with dilligaff - a very good abbreviation.
I forgot to say - I can confirm that the £2 Large Happy Eggs do compare to £1 at Asda (and the 40p coupon from the magazine brought them back to 60p so a good filler).ELITE 5:2

I'll give it another go - hope its better stocked by then! I think I was getting very confused as all my well thought out plans were all going awry. It's too hot to have to change plans mid shop :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Hi Emmlouie
Thank you for your reply. I went to Tesco Hastings today and they didn't have any magazines but I know they did a week ago.
I will try Bexhill perhaps tomorrow as I want to see what they do at the cafe on the beach near there as its my birthday on Friday and hubby is cooking steak in the evening but I thought we could have lunch there. High class or what.
You are very kind offering me the meal vouchers but I would not like to leave you short of these so will look tomorrow. Once again thank you very much0 -
