Just saw this advert on sky. No idea what it's advertising exactly but it made me :rotfl::rotfl:

There are big differences between bottles of spirits between stores.
Also there is a big difference between Semi Skimmed Milk 4 Pints, in T's its £1.39:eek:, in A its £1. Why such a high difference in something which is classed as a necessity?
It's just whatever the store want to charge and whether its customers or you are willing to pay that price. T's have their own brand 'budget' Creamfields milk at £1 (which incidentally they compare to A's CBY milk even though A do not have Creamfields Milk, so beware). I often wonder why, e.g. a cereal packet one week is £1.34 then the next week has shot up to £3.14 then back down to £2 or any 2 for £4 the following week. Surely the price of the commodity (and it's possibly the very same pack that was there last week and didn't get sold), the cost the supermarket got it for hasn't doubled in one week?
There are occasional specials, such as the Super6s Aldi gets in, which are sourced cheaper. But why the big change when the price to the supermarket was the same?
Answer - I suspect - they were selling it at a loss the previous week. It's supply and demand, market and consumer research as to what maximum prices people are prepared to pay - or how much they perceive a product is worth - before they take their business elsewhere. Prices are set tactically, taking into account these factors and also perhaps the prices elsewhere and how consumers might behave. It's all tactical (calls for us to be tactical too;):D).
Of course, with all those price promises schemes, we don't need to take our business elsewhere do we? They can charge as much as they want, they have a price promise if not and therefore "...why shop around?"!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:(Answer because they're all flippin' expensive (except on what they have as loss leaders that week) and offset their prices against each others, although on shelf prices set their prices perhaps to reduce them just enough as they can, without matching a rival's cheaper price, to lower the price refund on most customer's shops as it's more likely to have been offset elsewhere in their shopping. E.g.: a certain type of branded mints product - shop A charges £3.69 and shop B £3.69. Shop A goes on half price to £1.84. Shop B, which also has a price scheme, reduces its shelf price to £2.25. It does not match the £1.84. But now it doesn't risk putting £1.85 onto people's vouchers, only for them to be offset slightly elsewhere and thus still give them some refund, instead the difference is now 41p - much easier for the customer to offset to nothing, and receive no voucher, despite their store charging every one of them 41p more on that item.)0 -
Savvybuyer wrote: »How is this 'fraud'? You bought a shop (with at the minimum number of items in it) - it turned out to be cheaper elsewhere so they gave you a coupon for the difference. Fine. That's what they promise to do.
Then.. you changed your mind, which the back of the receipt allows you to do. So you can go to CS under that policy. Whether or not CS notices the very high price that T charged you in the first place (and then tries to offset that against the PP you got back) is up to them. If they take the item back and refund what's on the receipt, that was the price you originally paid. As long as you don't mislead them or claim there was no PP if they ask you if there had been one, I'd have thought you were okay. You are under no obligation to tell them you had got a PP. For all you know, indeed, the PP might have related to other items on the receipt and the item you want to return might have been non-comparable. That you know different seems irrelevant. If they accept your item that you return and choose to give you the full amount you originally paid (rather than looking into whether it gave a PP), that's a matter for them and deal done I say if they do that. That was their choice and you didn't (I assume) try to deceive them when deciding to change your mind, e.g. by lying to them or telling them falsehoods if they asked you something specifically.
I have had the 'fraud' conversation on here before and don't bother anymore. It's a very over used word and very inappropriately used as well. I have my own rule of thumb.....I know what fraud really is and what constitutes it. I don't commit it because if I did I'd find it hard to ever work again0 -

Sorry Fred, but you do ask alot of questions
Although it now turns out I'm answering many of them, as they do raise interesting points that require an answer.
(I'm just going back through the thread from early today and, regardless of who's posted, answering whatever seems to me to ask a valid question - I'm not even looking at who the poster is that much:eek:. So, apologies if I think you are someone else Aau1!:rotfl:)0 -
Does anyone knows if the 430 ml Helmans squezy bottle is still £1 in moris?
Tvm £2.49 v £1 if so £4.47 on pp on £7.47 spend and 5p off petrol

Pass:o. (What does my list say? I.e. does it give an expiry date that beyond this week? If so it might be of help in that area.) Price change day for Morries is tomorrow (and occasional extra ones on Wednesday). Aau1 can of course look for us tomorrow:D;):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I can't guarantee as sometimes, even when offers are to a certain date, they can (and this does not apply just to Morries) be pulled early. Also, if there is no expiry date on my list, it doesn't mean the product is still on offer (even if it's an offer in the first place), merely that I didn't take a date down, or that there wasn't any date stated last time. (I noticed they tend to add some of the expiry dates onto their price offers labels later, when the offers then have about one or weeks to go.)
Here of course, assuming M is £1, you're relying on T PP picking it up and refunding.0 -
