    .... and cost himself some more money. With all the costs of getting a new tenant, many being the ones which get paid by the tenant in England but are illegal in Scotland, it would be a very stupid LL who took that approach plus he has the beady eyes of the council on him already. But I must assume he is a stupid LL anyway for forgetting to renew his registration ;)

    Not renewing a tenancy is a "no blame" situation.
