vacancy filled before closing date?

Went to apply for a job on the jobcentre website and closing date was today only to find it had disappeared.
Phoned up the company to be told that they had already filled the vacany due to a 'good response' in applications.
What was the flipping point in advertising a closing date then:mad::mad::mad::mad:
Luckily I am in a job but I feel for those who are struggling to find one especially if companies have a habit doing this!

Happens alot if they have a good resposne to an Advert then they sometimes close before they say but normally its written on the advert that this will be the case. Rubbish when it happens though

  • I have frequently seen in job adverts that they advise applying as soon as possible as they may close the vacancy early if they receive a certain number of applicants.

harsh I know, but something to bear in mind if you see a suitable job in future - don't wait for the closing date!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Plenty of places close the application stage early if they have a high response level. If you see something you like the look of and want to apply for you're best bet is to apply asap and not wait until it's about to close.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

I actually stumbled across it by accident - not really looking for another job but if one more local to me was to come up then I'll apply closing date or not. Surely though if the job closes say two weeks early then it should no longer be advertised at the jobcentre?

Sorry but if I find the right person for a job vacancy, I am not going to waste everyone else's time by keeping the advert live. Perhaps this is the job centres fault rather than the company. X

The jobcentre can only withdraw the ad early if they're told the post is no longer available. Perhaps they weren't told?

I'd much rather them remove it before the closing time rather than me wasting my time filling in a lengthy application form and waiting for a response which will never come because the job had been filled!

In this instance they chose something more pro-active in applying.

So you chose to leave it to the last day? That's your fault as much as theirs. Jobs don't hang around.

OPs point was that it was still on the jobcentre website, but the company had filled it already. So presumably OP only saw it on the website on the 'closing day'.
