i received a parking ticket in may at the metrocentre gateshead, i am a member of staff there but was on a day off when i received this ticket, i was parked in the marks and spencer carpark which ha no time restriction on and i have a receipt to prove that i was shopping. My ticket was issued at 10.33 and the time my car was "first seen" was 10.33?. i was advised by friends not to pay this as they dont have a right to charge, so as advised i did not pay, i then received a reminder and the fin had doubled, again i ignored it, now on the 5th of july i have received a letter form dept recovery plus ltd that looks very official now demanding £120 by th 17th of july or they are threatening court, help, i had just gone back to work after the loss of my mother and could have done without all this stress, #

There is more to this than you are writing. You are not being clear.
What are the restrictions, if any, in the M&S car park? (There have got to be some if the PPC is patrolling there unless they have no jurisdiction in that car park)0 -
You should have appealed it or complained in store. The advice from your friends not to pay was correct but ignoring a fake PCN is 'old news' now. It's not too late to complain to UKPC and to the Retail park or main stores but it IS too late to use the appeals procedures and win (which we could have helped you to do).
See these threads on pepipoo about that car park and fake PCNs:

Ignore DRP and Zenith letters completely - I would complain to UKPC along these lines enclosing a copy of your receipt and NOT naming the driver:
''Dear UKPC,
I am the registered keeper of vehicle registration xxx xxxx and I see you have sent me an intimidating letter saying you think I am liable for a 'parking charge' ref xxxxxxx. I deny liability and enclose a copy of the driver's receipt from shopping there, to give you one chance to cancel this before I complain to your landowner/management clients in that car park as well as M&S Head Office, the BPA, the DVLA and my local Trading Standards office.
Should you attempt to pursue this 'charge' I will be making official complaints about your aggressive and unjustified ticketing of customers and your multiple breaches of the BPA Code of Practice (CoP). As well as failures in the wording of your postal Notice, I can tell you that the car park signage also fails to meet the BPA CoP. There are no time restrictions signposted in the M&S car park which is where the vehicle was parked for the shopping visit.
I am aware that various local Trading Standards Departments already have files on UKPC's business practices and that your firm was taken to Hull Crown Court in 2011 - but I wonder if your client running the Metrocentre and the local Trading Standards office are aware of the darker side of UKPC's chequered history as well as your current breaches of the BPA CoP. Your pursuit of this spurious charge is harassment and this implicates the Metrocentre as well.
I suggest you write to me again by return to confirm that this 'charge' is cancelled.
(up) yours' ''
And when you have posted or emailed that, trot into M&S with all the stupid letters and original receipt and see if the Manager can get on the case and force them to cancel it. Do a two-pronged attack (complaint to UKPC and to M&S, initially) and let us know how you get on.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
