I have a blue screen with white writing on my PC Technical info:
STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF9947528, 0XC0000034,0X00000000, 0X00000000)

I have restarted holding down F8 I have tried each of the options but after a few seconds I always get the blue STOP screen again.

It is a DELL Inspiron 1300. Is there a CD that I can use to get Windows going again? If so how can I get the PC to start up from the CD?
:hello:

STOP: 0X0000007B is an inacessable boot device
before wipeing and restoreing everything borrow a windows xp cd if you dont have one and use the recovery console to try a repair of the data on the drive with the chkdsk /r command.

to get the recovery console press the R key at the first prompt where it asks you if you want to use the recovery console press R.

Have a look at this Microsoft article entitled "How to troubleshoot "Stop 0x0000007B" errors in Windows XP"

    Hope that helps.

I followed the guidelines given by members on this forum and eventually received this error msg: corrupted file hidusb.sys.
I was so pleased when Windows started up and I found that I still had all my files and folders. I would like to say a big thank you for all your help as you gave me the support and guidance to sort it out myself.

Now back up all your files ASAP just incase there is an issue with the drives integrity you may not be so lucky next time.

perform a full scandisk and defrag the drive then check event viewer for errors on regarding the drive they will show up as disk as the source in the system log.
