PC world failed repair

Hello, im sure someone else must have had this problem with PC world.
Basically we were having problems with our laptop which is around 4 years old.
We took it to PC world, paid the £50 upfront for them to send it off to be diagnosed.
We then had a call saying they had a part & could fix it for extra £40.
Since then we have had it back & returned it twice - picked it back up today & still does not work. However they will only refund the £50 in the shop & say the £40 is nothing to do with the store - get in touch with repair centre - number provided.
Has anyone else had this problem. my OH is going to phone the number this afternoon but I want to be forwarned and forarmed in case they start fobbing us off !
Many thanks

It's not clear from your post just who you paid the £40 to.
If it was paid to the repair centre, then it is the repair centre that should make the refund.0
