Is it any good? Seems to cover more things than most people and only £60 for their top cover (excluding europe)

thanks

opps spelling mistake in subject - "direct"

That's ok - click on Edit on the bottom right of your post and simply change the title

About the breakdown cover, read over the article if you haven't already. Autoaid is currently the 'best buy' at £34 per annum with free spouse cover. This is personal cover, not vehicle based and is a claim process, i.e. you pay the recovery guys, then claim the full cost from Autoaid.

In case you haven't heard of Autoaid, here's a thread with users' feedback.

We had it for ages. Our first car died and although the people that turned up were a bit random, we did get a lift from the M25 to Birmingham! Which was nice considering that they 'got rid of the car' for us and, in hindsight, the tax disc

It's only the car that is covered and not you. Being a woman alone with small children most of the time, I like the security of the bright orange van and having any car I drive or am in, covered. Not the best vfm but peace of mind for me and they always turn up quickly.

According to the article, Autoaid insures the person, not the car ;)

I suppose for your case, you could use Clubcard Deals to get a lower price on RAC cover, or maybe try Norwich Union breakdown cover (they own RAC so it's effectively the same service) which offers full vehicle based cover for £54.

Thanks for that. I just spent all my old ones in MFI and was wondering what to save for next. That's exactly what I'll do. Cheers

I was going to get this cover as we usually insure with Direct Line, but I got put off by a Watchdog like tv prog that said the Direct Line cover was handled by anyone and often the mechanic who turned up to help was from 'we botch it' garage, if you get my drift.

I think it depends on what area you live in but we ended up with the AA as we felt happier knowing the same firm would deal with us. We seem to have (at least by rumour) quite a number of cowboys in business round our way and we were a bit concerned we'd get lumbered with someone who'd con us.

i think a lot of firms offering breakdown cover these days get local people to handle the cover unless you go with one of the big boys and pay ££££ I was with the RAC when I had my old Ford which was a ford direct car so came with the RAC cover. I called them twice, once I waited 1hr 40mins and that was in a city and the other time (55mins) the orange van came out said my radiator was knackered but he could fix it, made it worse towed me to a ford garage and it turned out to be the water pump not the radiator! I'm put off by the AA and RAC as they're expensive and on the experience I've had with the RAC they don't take pride in their work whereas if it was a local business I have always found them to be more through and take pride in their work
