I just spoke to https://www.nd-ink.co.uk about the DX5000 cartridge problem and they said:
"I have just spoken to our supplier about the compatibility issue with these Epson printers. They inform me that a new cartridge which is compatible both the new and old batches of these printers is going to be available to us within the next three weeks. Please contact us again in three weeks time and we will should be able to update you further on the subject."
This same advice may apply to the other epson printers people are speaking about. My recommendation is to get in touch with them directly as they seem a reasonable firm for prices and are certainly speedy in reply. Hopefully it looks like the generic cartridges are fighting back.

Yes, I have one. Excellent value for money and the comp. cartridges are cheap
Would recommend.

We need a new all in one after our Brother DCP - 120c failed to recognise black inks, although all other colours work fine! ugh! So may get the one in the OP."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0

I bought a DX 5050 in may 2007 and the first compatible cartridges were accepted fine(just the usual not genuine message). When I tried to replace a compatible with a compatible they were not recognised.
What I did, was take out the new compatible and put an empty epson original (which I had saved),
it showed up empty of course , so I then replaced it with the compatible and it was accepted!!
It looks like Epson are playing silly !!!!!!s to make life difficult for anyone not buying their product...scandalous!Nice to save.0
