epson all in one £39.99

Pc world are currently selling the epson dx4050 all in one printer scanner copier for £39.99

The cartridges are 4 individual tanks and so are cheaper to replace. The four pack of ink is £24.99

My hp c3180 cost me that but the running costs are far greater as the ink is not cheap.

Dont know if compatible ink is available but you can always refil.

You will need a usb cable to make this work they are available from pound shops tesco and wilkos quite cheap.

I use the model that it replaced DX5000 - it is quick and reliable.

The only thing that i have so far found that i have tried to use compatabible cartridges - without success - the printer keeps saying none epson cartridge and will not charge the printer head

I recently bought an Epson R265 printer and tried to use compatible cartridges. The printer would not accept them, saying cartridge not recognised. It seems that, with the R265 at least, that any printer manufactured after March 1st has been programmed to only accept Epson genuine cartridges. I was not happy!! Not surprising though as that is probably where most of the profit is made. Even worse though is that the cartridges are NOT refillable!
If buying one of the printers mentioned in this thread check when buying that it will accept compatibles or if it has been programmed like the R265. It cost me £5 for a compatible to find this out then I had to buy a genuine one as well. To be fair the Epson ones are only £6.99, but there are 6 of them in my printer!
Remember I am referring to the R265, NOT the printer which is the subject of this thread. I just thought the info might be useful.

It's a shame if Epson is going the way of Lexmark. Like so many things, all people can see is the headline price without appreciating the long term consequences. You're not buying a printer at all - you're renting it.

Hi, I have the dx4050 and can confirm that the compatible cartridges from ukdvdr work fine with it, I bought it around three weeks ago if that helps. There was a small ammount of ink included with the printer but I dont think they were 'full'. hth

What you have to remember is that the first time you install cartridges into a new printer the printer has to be primed and this reduces the life of the initial cartridges. After that they will give more prints.

Would you be able to provide a link to the cartridges you got for your printer and how much where they ?
