Lloyds to TSB fiasco (£48 compensation so far)

I am being forced to move to TSB. I'm now on my 2nd interim LloydsTSB branded Debit Card received this week. Just tried to register the card online and it was rejected by several retailers - Although it works in the High Street and ATM's.

Seems it is a combination of the short duration date of the card 06/13-06/14 and the fact that online retailers card database hasn't been updated (as quick as high st retailers).

As soon as I explained the problem the Customer service rep knew what it was!

After 15 minutes, I ended up £48 better off - for my 'trouble'. Still doesn't help with getting stuff online.

Worse thing is, I should expect two more debit cards within 12 months!

If you are so unhappy with Lloyds and/or TSB, why not just get a credit card elsewhere? There are several providers who offer cashback cards, so you would be better off with them, anyway.

I've been very happy with Lloyds - for many years. It's a Debit card.

    Don't use Credit cards.

What are these interim cards all about? My sister got one, meaning she has to update her card details on various online shopping websites. The letter even says ANOTHER new card will be issued by the end of the year...so what's the point??

Luckily I haven't had one yet.

I've got an interim RBS card, issued in Feb expires in Nov and I've never had a single problem with a short expiry date? Is it a quirk particular to LTSB?

But you will shortly no longer be with Lloyds?

    Hi

my dad has had an issue with the cards, however it is not down to Lloyds, what they have explained to us is that as new bank is being crated the cards have a new BIN (bank identification number). The new cards are visa card and Visa are aware of the new BIN. Visa then send the details to the merchants/updates to their systems, however some merchants/retailers/shops have not updated their systems yet.

This is why some places would take the new card and others reject it Lloyds asked dad for the exact retailers names etc that have rejected as apparently they are compiling a list and updating Visa so visa can re-tell those companies confirmed again ref the new BIN.

Apparently a new BIN is always created for a new bank.

Sounds like the retailers are letting you down.

    Who are they?

As others have pointed out the Bin numbers have changed and that's whats causing the problems when trying to use them online and also in some shops.

My old card started 4921 and the new one they sent me starts 4763 as the picture shows.
