So people will be invited to claim PIP but as its voluntary they don't have to take up the invite? I am confused as what will happen to my husbands as he is 65 next year and if they don't comne to him till Oct 15 he will be too old to claim PIP but if DLA had carried on he would have carried on getting it.
Will his DLA award still be going when he reaches 65 years old next year? If so he should continue to get DLA - PIP only affects people if there is a change of circumstances or the DLA is coming up for renewal and then only from Oct 2013. Anyone else will only get changed as they renew or after Oct 2015 where the award was lifetime indefinite. Hope that helps.0 -
Yes he got it awarded indefinitely in February so hopefully it will carry on when hes 650

Yes it should carry on at least until 2015.
So if you get a warm and friendly invitation to apply for PIP before then, come back here for advice before you do anything!

People who are 65 or older on 8 April 2013 will not be reassessed for PIP at all and remain on DLA.
People under 65 on 8 April 2013 will be 'invited' to claim PIP at some time in the future. If you do not take up this invite then the DLA claim will terminate.
For people whose DLA is due to expire after 24 February 2014 or who have an indefinite award they will be invite to claim PIP from 7 October 2013 onwards. Or if they report a change in circumstances this will trigger the start of a PIP claim.
For people whose current DLA award is due to end before 24 February 2014 will be sent a DLA renewal form.
People turning 16 before 7 October (who already receive DLA) will make an adult claim for DLA.
DLA recipients turning 16 on or after 7 October will be invited to claim PIP.0 -
Just to say that it was my understanding that ALL migrations are now on hold until 2014 pending the outcome of the new consultation (following the application for judicial review). In any event I also understood that people on indefinite awards will not be 'invited' to reapply for PIP until 2015 onwards (ie after the next election.
I don't have the relevant links to hand at the moment, and anyway it may be that things have changed, but that was the situation last time I checked.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
God knows why you get as it is from your posts.
Wow. Rude and totally out of order imo.
OP I hope you get this sorted out soon, sounds very stressful and unnecessary as they should have let you know in advance that his application needed renewing! Could be incompetence or could be a post issue I guess. Try not to worry too much, I am sure you will be able to get any due money backdated if this process takes a while.0 -

The June stakeholder bulletin (and other communications) confirmed the PIP 'moving around' consultation runs from 24 June to 5 August and no change to existing plans during the consultation. If you have something more recent please dig out the link as I would be very interested.0 -
Hi BB
This is what I was referring to:
"DWP has already announced they will be carrying out an independent review in 2014 and will consider its findings before reassessing the majority of existing DLA claimants."
Contained in the DWP press release dated 17th June 2013
