Dental charges for student

Typical toothpastes contain around 1500ppm fluoride. Prescription only toothpaste contains 5000ppm, or over 3.3x higher. They do not do the same job. It's prescription only because of the risk of fluorosis.be aware that if you get prescribed Mouthwash and Toothpaste... just buy your own! It may be 'extra fluoride' but paying £15 for a bit of toothpaste and mouthwash is not fun - I learned that the hard way.
Most mouthwashes can be bought cheaper over the counter.0 -
Were none of your oral health issues picked up on *before* you became responsible for your own dental costs?Unfortunately I've had to go through extensive treatment while at Uni and yeah, HC1 form doesn't get you anything. All I can say is that I hope she hasn't got as bad teeth as I do ...
Surely, if you have a history of poor oral health, that would have been picked up before you reached 18 (or so) years old?
If it wasn't, maybe you should look into reporting the dentist who saw you through your teen years when any potential issues should have been picked up (and seemingly were not!).
Doesn't feel right that you have gone through your teen years without issue, yet, as soon as you become a student, you have required "extensive treatment".0 -
Tell me about the price issues! I'm just about to go into second year and I now have to deal with glasses, prescriptions (asthmatic so I do need to pick up new inhalers every now and then) as well as dentist costs. So glad my teeth are in good shape, not everyone is so lucky though, one of my uni friends still has a brace and has a couple of fillings, can really see her costs mounting up!0
