John Lewis price change

Hi guys,

I didn't have a clue which forum to write this in. Hopefully it is ok in this one!!?

I need to buy a washing machine, found one on John Lewis's website last night, added to basket (needed to transfer some money from one account to another). I went back on today to find that the price has increased from just over 537 pounds to a whopping 699!! What I want to know is, if I call them do you think I could get money off it? Obviously, the reason I chose that specific one is because of the price.

I know companies can change their prices but thats a lot of money to increase by....

Would be grateful for responses!

Seems a bit strange, is it actually still in your basket.

You could ring and ask them, you could also google the model number and get it even cheaper elsewhere.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

it could have been some kind of limited offer or something.

you can always ring up and ask them and see what they do.

i think they have a price matching policy too

Always worth looking to see if you can get the same machine cheaper elsewhere and then applying to John Lewis to check out whether they will price match?

    Thanks for replying!!

We spoke to them. Apparently it was some special offer which had now expired.
It was the cheapest, I spent ages looking online yesterday. We have found one today which is a little cheaper however, they have a longer wait. So have just sent off the price promise form for JL, hopefully it will be accepted. Wish I paid for it last night now though!!

Yeah..Have made the exact same mistake myself, but always found JL very good with price matching and to be honest you can never go wrong buying from them as their customer service is second to none!!

I just ordered a washer dryer from them and unfortunately because it has to come from the supplier and not their warehouse I could be looking at having to wait up to 2 weeks before I get it?!!.......But then worth the wait as buying from JL gives absolute peace of mind; never once have they ever given me any grief, in fact, the exact opposite, they simply can't do enough for their customers! :T

Have you checked the terms of the price guarantee? They do not match online only retailers (Amazon, Play etc), and the retailer must be able to deliver in the same timeframe as JL.
