I recently went to buy a new car (which im going to need for my job) and was surprised to be refused finance. After been giddy with money in my younger days ive always strived to be carefull. I got both my experian and equifax reports and have a number of default entrys from lowells. After calling them i remembered getting a bill from them a number of years ago regarding littlewoods catalogue. My (now) ex girlfriend ordered things from the catalogue (the catalogue was delivered to my address) yet had the goods sent to her address also gave them her contact details and email address etc.
When i confronted her about the lowells thing she explained she had set up a direct debit with littlewoods but they had never taken money out of her account nor got in touch with her regarding the outstanding amount. The first thing i knew about any of this was a letter from lowells. Everything got paid off with lowells however my credit rating is now in dire straits. Any suggestions on to how i could fix this?
If you managed to get this far without falling asleep then thanks for reading it!
Any help greatly appreciated.

was your name ever on the accounts, or was it all in your ex's name ?
if it wasn't in your name, then it shouldn't be showing on your file.
you should contact who ever put the defaults on your file to get them removed0 -
Did you open the credit account with Littlewoods originally?
Did she open a new account it in your name with your agreement?
Did she open a new account fraudulently without your permission or knowledge?
You say you have a number of default entries - if littlewoods relates to one account do you know what the others relates to?
How many accounts with defaults are on there? what are the default dates on them?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
On experian there was several red '8's but all with the same company (Lowells). On exuifax just the one default dated August 2010. According to Lowells its her address and email details in their system. Theyre emailing me everything theyve got. I do seem to remember agreeing to let my ex do this. The thing is im amazed how littlewoods never got in touch with me about it once they didnt get payment seeing how it was in my name. They just seem to have sold the debt straight to Lowells and thats the first i knew about it. My ex is gutted about this, shes told me they never got in touch with her either. Her attitude to money is 'whatevers left in my account after the 5th of every month is mine!'. As soon as i heard from Lowells i got it paid.0
