Gadgets for decorating

Hi all,
Long time lurker, relatively new poster here :0)
Just wanted to ask if anyone knew of any gadgets or tricks to make decorating any easier?
Me and my OH are currently in the process of buying our first house which needs a complete cosmetic overhaul and are finding the idea of it a bit daunting tbh, so basically looking for some shortcuts that don't mess the house up.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
J

I would recommend one of those rollers that you fill up with paint. Lots of variations out there but I have Easy Painter rollers and they allow you to paint the walls really fast without hardly any mess.0

Make it as stress free as possible by doing just one room at a time.
Stripping paper? If you have a steam stripper its easier but if not,
wet the wall, wait 5 minutes, wet it again, wait five minutes and wet it again while scraping it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Paint brushes are good for painting with.0

Lol thanks will keep that in mind and keep the finger painting to a minimum :rotfl:
Thanks all for your advice, really appreciate it - we are both total noobs with all this.
Will defo have a look out for that easy roller and might look into buying a steamer - doing the whole house eventually so might be worth the investment!0 -
On a serious note. A steamer is a good shout if you have a lot of wallpaper to strip and they are only £20 in B&Q for their own brand one which is just as good (i.e. identical in every way) as more expensive ones.
Buy decent paintbrushes and good roller sleeves. Watch some videos on youtube about how to paint, especially cutting-in and keeping straight edges - there is a knack to it and using a larger brush is actually better than a small one.
Other than that, if you find you need a tool, buy it. Tools are nearly always a good investment.0 -
After using a wallpaper brush for over thirty years , have discovered the joy's of a wallpaper plastic smoother???

Ps would add , buy an electric sander.0 -
There's no limit to the amount you can spend on home decor gadgets, all with their own promises of doing the job for you whilst you sit back with a glass of wine and a trophy family of models. Worth every penny, for sure ;-)0

don't waste your time and money with apaint pod , if they were that good all decoartors would be using them , and trust me they don't , get yourself some decent brushes and a good roller , if you buy something like hamilton or purdy or wooster stuff hen it may cost you a bit more , but if you look after them ,they will last you for years0

Another vote for not buying a paint pod but I buy cheap brushes ( give them a hard time to remove any loose hair) and then throw them away .0

I like paint pads, especially for cutting in.Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
