I removed the soundmax program in error and found I could get no sound from my pc speakers or headphones.
I restored to a previous point with system restore but still no sound.
Device Manager shows a yellow ! by Soundmax Integrated Digital Audio and the message : Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39).
Where do I get this from? I've no idea what Soundmax is or where it originated from.
Edit: I found it on one of my manufacturers (Dell) discs problem solved.

I tried that earlier but wasn't given the internet option. (?)
Anyway I found a Dell disc in the end which has solved my problem. Cheers0 -
