Site storing card details

in Credit cards
I used a company credit card for their domain renewal, now the site has remembered the details and renewed two of my personal domain with the company credit card. After the first one I logged on and deleted the card details. Now they have re-appeared. I asked them to remove the card and refund the payment for the second domain, but they refused (TOC, payments already been paid).
I've given them a second request to remove the card details, re-explained I did not give them permission to store or us the card and if its not removed I'll contact trading standards and card company.
Is there any legal obligations I can quote to them regarding storing and charging the card without permission? Anything else I should do?

Unless you gave them Continuous Payment Authority in the past or agreed to an automatic renewal they cannot keep charging you regardless of storing the card details or not.
If you are sure that you have not agreed to this, demand the charges back from your bank as for an unauthorised transaction.0 -
Is it 123 Reg you're using? They have an auto renew policy that you're automatically opted in to if you have a registered card in the account that you have to manually opt out off (with difficulty.)
Note many domain name resellers are based outside the UK meaning they comply with laws where they are based e.g. the US, France etc. not UK laws.0 -
It is 123 reg. They said they can not refund the card in their first reply. Now they have said its escalated it to a refund. I've given three written requests now to remove the card details and they are still there. Their current TOC state there must be a valid payment method stored, so presumably they decided to harvest the next credit card I used. I have offered to set up payment by PayPal, but their system again won't let me do this myself (without a transaction).
I'll give them 24hrs to sort it then do a charge back.
Once this is all resolved I'm walking.0 -
Quote from 123 reg site "In the unlikely event you want to transfer your domain away we don't charge any extra fees. Some registrars will charge huge fees just to leave them.". If 123 reg get shirty Nominet will take over for £10.If you want to keep the domain they'll slap transfer fees on you to get it moved to another reseller.
As a gesture of good will I received a refund, but they still need a special engineer to remove the card details.0 -

No. ALL retailers will retain your card details. They need them for auditing purposes.
What you need to do is advise them that you do not give authority for them to auto renew.
Now that is a totally different area.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
