If you can't get the help from CS? then yes, after all they won't like the bad publicity it could generate if taken further!
Example, a few months ago bought a Siemens freezer, had problems, CS washed their hands, wrote to CEO, got freezer replaced within a week! It works.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
MD is as high as that will go centrica is a completely different arm of the business0

Thanks for that, we were wondering what customer serve people did because they certainly do not provide any kind of customer service, do you think they play tiddlewinks?
I nearly forgot my friend is not a customer of british gas so I presume she does not need any help from customer service! who should she be talking to? is there a department within british gas who deals with taking money from people who are not their customers?Loretta0 -
They get diverted to customer relations which has far more authority rather than the usual correspondence teams, . But no, the CEO doesn't deal with day to day complaints. However, if there are a lot of complaints over the same issue then the information from the high level complaints departments does filter up the chain, I doubt as far as the CEO, but certainly to the MD.
The MD of British Gas must be a very busy man then!Loretta0 -

Better still call them on:- 020 76549470 and not the rip off 0845 number.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I used to work for BG and have been in a meeting where a particular customer's "journey" was presented to the board (including Mark Clare, who was the MD at that time - he's now the Group Chief Executive at Barratt Homes). This was a particularly appalling case, even by BG standards, where a customer had been let down over and over again due to various process failures, Customer Service failures etc. So it does sometimes happen that the MD will see individual customer's cases.
However, this is extremely rare. The only other time your complaint would go anywhere near the MD is if it posed a signifcant risk to the operations/'profitability/status of the company. In other words if there had been a significant failure, for example disconnecting an OAP in winter etc etc.
Cheers,

Although it may not work in every case, there is something to be said for contacting the big cheeses - even if they only deal with the problem because you annoy them at least it is resolved.
I was having trouble with some conveyancing and could only get through to 'administrators' who kept fobbing me off that they were really busy with toher cases. I told them that I didn't care about anyone else's case, and if they were too busy to do the job they shouldn't have taken my money in the first place!
I managed to get hold of the direct number for one of the partners, who seemed VERY surprised to get a phone call from an irate customer. He tried to tell me that he didn't deal with customers, to which my response was 'well who does then? Certainly not the people who have been giving me excuses for the last few weeks!'. I was only waiting for them to fax me a document which they had already told me was 'ready' so I told him I would call him every hour until I received it. Lo and behold, about 8 minutes later the whole matter was resolved!
I can't guarantee that this would work in every case but it is certainly worth a try...0
