Hello,
My partner had an MBNA loan back in 2005. I found documentation for this loan with account numbers and an agreement outling the PPi. We sent off the standard letter a couple of months ago and received a reply saying we would hear within 28 days. That was dated 20th may.
Not heard anything since, so my partner has attempted to contact them several times this week with great difficulty. Eventually after getting passed back and forth he spoke to someone yesterday. This person told my partner there was no PPi despite my partner having the credit agreement in front of him! The MBNA advisor said that he needs to post a copy so they could look into it. They also said that they had written to say he had not had PPi. They have written, but for another card/loan, not this particular one.
Its all very confusing and MBNA have been very awkward with foreign call centre staff confusing things.
Basically, would MBNa not have a record of this PPi as I really don't understand how they could not know it had existed as he provided account numbers etc??

Do you have a copy of any transaction data such as a statement showing you paying it? If so it would show as a separate item.
If you don't have any of them, it's advisable to SAR them in order to get copies of transactions. That way you can provide them with proof that you paid.
It shouldn't be difficult for them to provide this data - they were able to obtain data from 1995-2001 for me.
MBNA don't keep archive data on their current systems, and the department that deal with SARs is separate. Unfortunately their PPI department don't always search every system so it's possible they've simply missed it on this occasion.Competition wins:
2010 - approx £450. 2011 - approx £800. 2012 - approx £300. 2013 - nothing so far!0
