Probably don't want stag or hen parties. You see it a lot on holiday rentals.

I assume (and hope) they're trying to avoid hen and stag parties, rather than it being anything homophobic.

In a cottage in Northumberland? Maybe if it was in Blackpool :p

I think that is rather prejudiced against Northumberland or Blackpool depending on the implied difference in resorts...

What I meant was Blackpool is well know for stag and hen weekends but a cottage in Northumberland isn't.

I see that a lot in cottages and other holiday places me and my family would like to stay at.
Problem is we are an all female family (well there are guys but they don't like to come away with us)

I think it's a little silly because who says single sex groups are going to be any worse than a mixed sex group out for someone's birthday or other celebration.

It's been something that has been around for ages, been seeing things like that since I first went on my first holiday over 20 years ago - they just don't want hoards of young people on holiday with their mates - families, couples etc are probably more sensible/careful with the properties, nothing more sinister.

I thought it was a fairly standard condition, the location of a property doesn't really make much difference and there nothing to stop a mixed group being made up of same sex couples.
Stag/Hen (more so the Hen who can be really disgusting) tend to leave places in a right state more often than mixed groups do.

It's something I've not really noticed before, you learn something new every day:)

I'm gonna have to read the t & c's each time now as generally me, my sis and mum like to go away for some r & r and that would exclude us
