Really feed up
I needed an mot last week, so got it done.
I knew I needed a windscreen, exhaust box & cv boot.
Total cost 435. All ok so far.
When I rang to pay they said the bonnet won't shut proper, but they will deal with.
There was a note in the car saying bonnet shut but you need a new catch at some point.
I was driving to get my tax, when the bonnet shot up & smashed the windscreen, wiped out the aerial & bent the bonnet.
After I'd stopped shaking, I found the remains of a bungee in the engine compartment.
It took all my cash for the mot & tax.
Any help appreciated before I go back to the garage tomorrow.

Renault Clio?
Actually I'm surprised it passed the MOT with a faulty bonnet catch.0 -
The bungee I presume was to hold the bonnet down, I've kept it, am I right in hoping, the garage will make good ?0

Is the bonnet catch part of the mot ?0

Unfortunately they told you it needed replaced (presumably they asked if you wanted it done and declined) so I think it is down to you.0
-
No they just said "it needs replacing at some point" they didn't offer, advise & I didn't decline0
-
Did they tell you the bonnet was being held shut with a bungee? Was this something they did after they found the catch was broken? I'm assuming you've had the car long enough to previously open the bonnet and know that it had a working catch?0
-
No they didn't tell me about the bungee, had the car 2 years, I've never had a problem with it.0

If you are seriously saying that they let you drive away with a bonnet held shut with a bungee without telling you then I don't see how they have a leg to stand on! Although I'm surprised any garage would do this. There's the cost of the bungee for starters ;-)0
