child maintance premium

had letters from the CSA today, was surprised as i thought i had to go for DNA tests he has not complied to their letters so they have automattically said he is the father. Now they have sent a DD mandate form and if that dont work then they will contact his employer.....

I was wondering if you knew if the £10 maintance premium got back dated. for when the payments start. I figure this be august time?

any advise would help

Thank you

It should be if they recover the arrears.

They recover arrears from the date of the first point of contact so whenever the first letter went out, he has to pay from then (I was told by the CSA).

What £10 premium do you mean though? I keep hearing about a £10 a week premium for those on IS but I got told last week you are only entitled to £5 a week directly from a CSA advisor. I'm still entitled to the arrears from when I worked and am back off to work in four weeks though so hey, what do I care?! Just interested. Sorry if I'm hijacking.

The premium is UP to ten pounds per week. So if an NRP must pay only five because he is on benefits, then the PWC on IS will only get a fiver per week. If however he pays more than a tenner per week, then the PWC in IS will get only the ten pounds premium.

Oh, well my ex gets £30kpa but I was told I was only entitled to £5pw and when I asked if he was sure he asked a colleague who concured. I was on the understanding that what you say Kelloggs 36 is correct so all I can say is perhaps the people I spoke to were wrong?

Which system are you on? CSA1 or 2?

Erm, well if 2 is the "all new CSA" then probably 2. My claim didn't begin officially until November 2006 (grrr).

Well if his gross wage is 30k and you only have one of his children... your maintenance from him should be in the region of £250 a month!!! £50 a week approximately.

Does he work for an employer, and not self employed?

Maintenance is currently worked out as £59pw on his salary c£27kpa but should be a bit higher when the finish reassessing him this week as I believe his salary is now between £30k and £35kpa following promotion two months ago. He has loads of benefits in kind and I think they include these too in the calculation. He's employed and has no other children.

I'm on sickness IS atm which is why they said they'd pay me £5pw and the rest would be taken to repay my IS (which I think is SO wrong; that is MY IS not my child's and the IS should be paid for out of taxes which we both pay throughout our lives). When I was working I received 2 one off payments; one of £320 and one of £371 as these included arrears and when I return to work at the end of the month I'll get the money paid directly again - if it is paid of course. I love how his arrears go down so quickly though, 2 payments and suddenly, since November 2006 remember, he is only owing around £400 now!!!

But point is, I was told I would receive £5pw while I am on IS. But I have not received any having been on IS since May (backdated to March 15) so I couldn't tell you how it works in reality.

I really do hate the CSA system. Only reason I even got that second payment when I was working was 'cos I befriended a CSA worker online who rang him up one Saturday and made him pay it over the phone!!!

    :D

Ooooh can I befriend your CSA buddy?!

I see why you're only getting that amount... when you're back to work, you'll receive it all. I should imagine they wont let him get away with it if the Government are wanting the money... it may probably be different if it's an irate PWC!

    Does he see your child?
