£91 one off charge?

Hi,

We are with Npower, who have this morning said that the charge of £45 a month isnt enough and whacked us with a one off charge of £91.

My mum has gone mad saying its to do with the amount of electricity we use with the computers being on all the time, is it? Or is it just them being unscrupulous, we are a family of 5 btw, so we use a fair bit granted.

check the meter readings against the bills - if the bills show estimated readings, call up with actual readings.

Most computers only cost a couple of pence an hour to run, but if they are on for extended periods it soon adds up.

check on one of the comparison sites to see if you can find a cheaper supplier?

Seems strange that they give you a one of charge instead of putting up your ddebit. They would be able to spread the cost over 3 months if that's easier or increase the direct debit
