Should I replace my car?

  • There isn't a tax group that is £60 for 12 months. I suspect she pays about £60 for six months or £105 for 12 months.

Thanks for that... you must be right. I hadn't considered her paying 6 months at a time. Always thought £60 was low for a diesel anyway.

Some of the diesels are tax free, most small diesels are only £20 or £30 a year.

If you want a new car and your Mum wants to treat you and get you something she can see you enjoy then go for it. Depreciation is the biggest cost and that wont effect you as you aren't paying for it.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice. I bought the car before I'd had my lbm and until then I tended to bin my cars every couple of years and replace. But I actually quite like this one, so don't need much convincing that I should hang onto it. I'll book it in for a timing belt over the next couple of weeks and fingers crossed it'll keep me happy for a few more years yet.

Well, I ask for advice from people that know more about stuff than I do - then I tend to take their word for it. This place has never let me down yet. :D

That's only because all the posters replying to your thread have never advised you on any of your posts before
