  • The book this month looks like a good read to me. I shall try using the vouchers but not overdoing it and never ever making a fuss. One of the posts I read said that tesco had joined and that ?689? stores were members. I don't know what to believe and tesco never understand their policies. I really do think that all of CS need retraining!

But that's the whole point - they aren't.
Have you not read this thread from post 8 ?

Jury's out on that one, check post 11. If anything evidence suggests that they are members.

But don't you think that Tesco would get a mention on the relevant website being as "big and important" as they are.

    QUOTE:

Where are National Book Tokens sold and exchanged?
National Book Tokens are the only gift vouchers sold and exchanged in virtually every bookshop in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, over 3000 outlets in total. Including Waterstone's, WHSmith, Blackwell, Borders, Books Etc, British Bookshops, Easons, The Works, John Smith, Methvens, Maher, Corbetts, David Flatman, Foyles, Wesley Owen, SPCK and local independent bookshops.

Maybe they are members of the Bookseller's Association but it still looks like book tokens, including those such as the Daily Mail one (newspaper or online) are worthless bits of paper if they cannot redeem them.

If a coupon is acceptable it is entered into their system.

Any that are presented that are not acceptable get a refusal from the system and a message appears on the screen "this coupon cannot be redeemed at this time"

If they don't want these coupons why do they have the code in their system?

It is strange that some people advocate reading what is printed on this coupon and abiding by it - if that was the way to do things there would be no point in these threads discussing whether or not the products have to be bought. All coupons state that they should only be used to buy the product but certain retailers we know abuse that, and accept the coupon as cash.

This is not strictly true, Tesco accept Sainsbury's money off shopping coupons, they scan and you get the money off but Tesco can't actually reclaim the money from anywhere.

Tesco don't really care in general-once you are in their store they have got your custom and their profits prove that their methods and their small losses on vouchers are paying off. I wouldnt lose any sleep over using them but to overdo it will lead to them tightening their policies.

  • Took my printed voucher to my local Tesco
After much head scratching from the staff, I got the book for free!
    Result!
Whilst waiting I was talking to one of the Supervisor's and she said - "Lets face it Tesco aren't going to go broke for £3.73!"
