Brother Toner Cartridge

Hello

I recently bought a Brother official toner cartridge. The box says 1000 A4 pages of printing.

I was printing a run of flyers for my business. They don't contain a lot of text or graphics, and are at A5.

I have contacted the shop I bought it from via Ebay, and will claim a refund or replacement. But it will be a hassle, and I need to print these leaflets.

I've also sent an email to Brother's local trading standards office.

Is there really such a discrepancy between Brother's quoted yields and actual performance? How do they get away with it? This is going to more than triple my operating costs.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I suspect you've missed a line out of the posting.

Most figures for cartridges are based on something like 5% coverage.

I can't imagine my leaflet is much over 5% coverage, and you need to remember it's on half size. This is the cartridge

ISO/IEC 19752 is a much better defined standard than that.

You missed out how many pages you actually got out of it.

    What a plank! :embarasse

    I have printed about 10 A4 pages and 350 A5 pages.

It's nowhere near the 1000 A4 pages the box quotes.

It really does depend on how much toner each page has used. Can you show us an example of a page ? (obviously with any personal details removed).

That's the flyer, remember it's only black ink on a piece of A5 coloured paper.
Surely I'd get more than 350 of those from a cartridge that says 1000 pages of A4?
