I have just left BT. This morning at 07:17 they sent me an email saying my final bill was now ready online.
At 08:18 they sent me another email saying
Your final payment is late. You need to pay £11.65 straight away
You haven't paid your final bill yet. We realise it might have been missed or you might have been away but it's late and you need to pay your bill now to avoid your credit rating being downgraded
What will happen if you don't pay now
We'll pass your details to a debt collection agency, which could affect your credit rating and any future credit.
That's 61 minutes between them telling me how much I owe and them saying the payment is late!

Maybe they are worried you'll forget. Pay up, move on and never go back. That's far more satisfying!0

Have you cancelled a direct debit when you left them?? If it was still set up they would have taken the money on an arranged date - if you cancelled then their system probably goes into "panic mode":rotfl:0

Yes, I cancelled it after my last payment at the end of May. They didn't bother sending me a regular bill at the end of June as they knew I was leaving on 2 July. Instead they left it until 3 July and sent a final bill.0
