This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Weather looks a bit brighter this morning and it's really chilly again. DH woke up in the night and said he was freezing and got up to fetch a throw. Is it really July?!
Halight - I hope you got on ok at the hospital yesterday and will update us today.
JackieO - I hope you had a fab time at your concert and sang along to every song.
Probably a late day at work today and then DH goes training on a Wednesday, so he is abandoning low carb for the day and having beans on toast for dinner. I will have some cold meats and cheese. Both having salad for our lunch.
Have just noticed shower curtain looks weird and realised GDD must have unhooked one end at the weekend, she can't leave anything alone! So it's completely down and in the washing machine now along with some towels and tea towels. Hopefully they can go out to dry tonight.
Better get going so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good morning TTFTM and to all who cross/follow,
Cold and wet here today. It rained from about 6 o' clock last night, all through the night and is now just a fine drizzle.
DD had a great holiday. Nice to have her home though.
Halight, i hope you got on ok at the hospital.
JackieO, i hope you had a good time at the concert. I can only imagine that he is quite the entertainer and gets the crowd going.
I havent even thought about tea, will have to have a rummage in the freezer.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning TTFTM and everyone else who follows.:)
Well it's a bit of a rainy day here this morning so I am hoping it clears up by 9 as I am going for a very rare trip into town with my eldest DD. I have to visit the bank and get a 70th birthday card for my lovely FIL not forgetting the stamp (extortionate as they are lol)
OS today, well I will be taking Ethel, my trusty wally trolleyand seeing if there are any bargains to be had. We get through so much fruit in this house but we have 2 very good greengrocers in town so I'm hopeful of finding something on offer.:)
When I get back home I will be attempting to make traditional cornish pastys and a corned beef and potato pie for dinner. I made loads of cakes last week so I thought I would have a savoury week for a change. I've been looking on the grocery challenge for some ideas.
My DD12 has been chosen to go back to her primary school to tell the yr 6's about going up to the comp. She is very excited to see her old teachers and my grandaughter has made her promise to come and find her at lunchtime so they can play lol.
Well, whilst I have been typing this the kittens and my old cat are demanding their breakfast so off I toddle. Hope everyone has a great day, cheers m'dears x:)0 -

Morning all:j:j
Overcast and damp here this morning.
It must of rained quite a bit In the night here,
Hospital yesterday Well it was a complete wast of time, They only told me what I was told over the phone and what was In the leaflet that they sent me.
I think they only had me up to tell me face to face as some would not like the fact that they were told over the phone and sent a leaflet,
Still I had a drive out with my dad, It got me out of the house for a couple of hours, Other wise yesterday I would had been stuck In the house all day again on my own.
Today, My wife is not at work this morning, . We shall be going to aldi to do a shop.
Nothing on for me this afternoon,
I did think it went very chilly here yesterday afternoon. At one point I did think about putting the heating on:eek: I did not bother In the end, But at this time of year you should not even have to think about it,
I understand that its ment to go very warm at the weekend.
Well I hope that you all have a great day,
enjoy :j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning all,
Sistercas, thanks, they do seem to be having a great time, I had asked her to text me when she got in at night what ever the time, so that I would know she got in safe, she texted me last night at 3.30 , so I think they are having a ball ! :rotfl:
Off to work to me today, will be busy so day should fly by, jacket spuds for dinner with cheese ham and tomatoes, nice and easy.
Need to do a wash tonight I must say I have noticed a we have a lot less washing with dd away, and the house is very tidy, now if OH was away it would be spotless :rotfl:
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dull and very overcast and very wet underfoot but forecast says it should brighten up later.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips, beans for the menfolk, and fish, jacket potato and green beans for me, dessert was fresh strawberries and cream - they were an unexpected gift from FIL and delicious they were too. Tonight we will be having lamb casserole, new potatoes, and veg - I have a sponge cake in the tins that needs a jam and cream filling - that will be dessert for those that want some.
Work was reasonably busy again yesterday, we didn't seem to stop all day but eventually got there. Today I'm only working until lunchtime then I'm on days off - have quite a bit to do as usual so will try to crack on once I'm home. Friend may come over for coffee and chat after school - so like to get ahead of myself before she arrives as she stays quite a while, (at 1 point she was coming round 2-3 times a week and was staying 2-3+ hours each time! she started coming over late on a Sunday afternoon and then not leaving until 9-10pm - unfortunately I had to make it clear that it wasn't convenient, as usually we'd been away and had only just got back, I was trying to getting unpacked, putting washing on, feeding the family, getting organised for school and work the next day, DH would need to go and collect his work van for early start the next day, she seemed a bit miffed but there's no reason why she should be around my house for that length of time that frequently - we are good friends but it's not just me she does this too, other members of her family have told me the same - she was at 1 of the relations houses the other week for nearly 4 hours! (and when my friend visits me she can't say a good word about this family hence I don't get involved in talking about anyone I keep out of it!) She has a home of her own but I know her marriage is about shot and she has a shedload of problems (mostly created by herself and she does admit this) but to keep riding around for miles doesn't really help matters as she's spending a small fortune on petrol every week to add to the huge debts she's already got. Oh dear that's turned into another rant! Obviously the holidays can't come soon enough!!
Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Had a mixed night, woke a few times, but went back again.
I now have a water infection, so am on the anti-biotics again:mad: I thought I had one last week, so when I realised I was falling again, got onto the doc and he lefy me a prescription.:o
Had my nails done yesterday, that made me feel better, but now my clothes are getting too tight with this "Cushing Syndrome" so I must chase up the consultant, the quicker it's done the better:T
Going to lkunch with my cousin today, so that means now cooking today. Tomorrow night we are going to the Hastings Proms in the Park with friends. We have been for the past two years, and it's fun with a picnic and flag waving.:rotfl:
Hope everyone is okay, if not (((((((((HUGS)))))))) from me.I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
Morning All
Hilstep - Hope you feel better soon.
Headlight - Your trip to the hospital sounded a bit wasted.
JackieO - Hope you enjoyed the concert.
The weather's not nice again, it only stopped raining yesterday to rain harder! I think it's to brighten up so the washing is on the line anyway.
I have taken down all the vases and jugs that live on the top of the kitchen units and put them in the dishwasher, will clean the units later - where does all the dust come from?
Off for a swim in a bit, leaving it till later to try to miss the oldies and then another relaxing day, not at evening job either tonight so it's my first whole day off.
Hugs to those feeling down, LW how are your visitors?
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all!
Looking a bit grey and damp here, my sheets are in the WM and another couple of loads waiting, I think I will wait and see if it brightens up as I really hate drying bedding inside!
On Saturday I was invited to go on a cheapy holiday with some friends, they have a huge apartment in Turkey in September and all I needed to do was book a flight, so thought why not, and booked up last night! The girls will all understand if I am having a crappy moment, and are just the ones to take my mind off things, so am looking forward to it, and its the 2 weeks at the end of the month so DD will be back from Florida, so her and BF can keep DS in line!
Right am off to look at the weather over the hills, and decide if the sheets can go out, have a good day allRIP Iain
